Kyocera built the ECOSYS MA5500ifx as the 55 page a minute member of its ECOSYS MA A4 mono range. Its sister models: the ECOSYS MA3501wfx at 35, the ECOSYS MA4000x at 40, the ECOSYS MA4000fx at 40, the ECOSYS MA4000wifx at 40, the ECOSYS MA4500fx at 45, the ECOSYS MA4500ifx at 45 and the ECOSYS MA6000ifx at 60 pages a minute. By the maker's figures, it handles double sided originals in a single pass at speeds up to 60 images a minute and takes 600 sheets as supplied and 2,600 with paper options added. It is current in Kyocera's Australian range.

Best fit: a large office of thirty people or more, or a print room. Kyocera suggests up to 16,700 pages a month. For a bigger team, the ECOSYS MA6000ifx is the same series at 60 pages a minute. Fewer people? The ECOSYS MA4500ifx does 45 pages a minute.

Buying it new

A new ECOSYS MA5500ifx carries the maker's warranty, which on a new machine usually covers hardware for 12 months, not consumables. The price takes in delivery, network installation, scanning setup and a walk through for your staff.

Rental is the usual choice: a business agreement over three to five years, one regular payment, serviced throughout, and priced from $15 a week plus GST for selected machines, subject to approval. A lease or an outright purchase works too. On a service agreement, our replacement warranty covers the full term.
