Replacement warranty

Machine fails? It gets replaced. Right to the end of the term.

Put any machine on our service agreement and the replacement warranty comes with it. New or secondhand, and whether you rent, lease, finance or buy outright, the rule is the same: should the machine fail, you get a replacement. The cover runs to the final day of the agreement, not the end of year one.

On a new copier the maker's own warranty is usually 12 months, on the hardware only; consumables sit outside it. Beyond that year, your cover is the service agreement. Your agreement sets out the full terms of the replacement warranty.

Which option do most offices pick?

Rental. It is the pick for most buyers. You make one regular payment, service sits inside the same arrangement, and nothing large leaves the bank on day one. When the term is up, step to a newer model or return the machine. New, renewed and refurbished copiers all rent on that basis.

Paying cash costs the least across a long working life, provided the money is there and the machine will stay for many years. Would your accountant rather see a lease, or another form of finance? Either one can be arranged.

Same machine, five ways to pay. Cash flow, plans and tax decide which.

Lease or buy: how do you decide?

Three questions settle it for most buyers. Do you want to pay the full amount now? Will you want a newer model in three to five years? Should servicing sit in the same arrangement? Answer no, yes, yes, and rental or a lease fits. Answer yes, no, no, and buying outright fits.

Each option is taxed in its own way, and your accountant can explain what that means for your business. Treat this page as general information, not financial advice.

Finance terms, decoded

Finance lease: a finance company holds ownership. When the term ends you may return the machine, extend, or pay a residual and keep it. Operating lease: you have use of the machine for a fixed period, then it goes back. Chattel mortgage: the machine is yours from the start, and a loan secured against it is repaid over the term.

Questions

Paying for a copier: your questions answered

Leasing or buying a copier: which works out better?

Buying wins on total cost when the money is there and the machine will stay for years. Renting or leasing wins when you want no upfront cost, service in the one payment and an easy step up later.

Do you offer rent to own?

Rent to own usually means monthly payments that finish in ownership. Our rentals finish differently: you move to a newer model or return the machine. Hoping to keep it when the term ends? Ask us.

Can I pay per page instead of a set amount?

Yes, on a managed print agreement. The managed print services page explains how it runs.
