The machine

Konica Minolta built the bizhub 360i as the 36 page a minute member of its bizhub 300i to 750i range. The rest of the series runs as follows: the bizhub 300i at 30, the bizhub 450i at 45, the bizhub 550i at 55 and the bizhub 650i at 65 pages a minute. By the maker's figures, it reaches 100 images a minute when the optional single pass document feeder is fitted, takes 1,150 sheets as supplied and 6,650 with paper options added and handles card as heavy as 300 gsm. Konica Minolta has since moved on to the bizhub 361i.

Which office it fits

Best fit: a busier floor of roughly fifteen to thirty people. The maker's guide is up to 33,000 pages a month. More people printing? Step up to the bizhub 450i, from the same series at 45 pages a minute. Fewer people? The bizhub 300i does 30 pages a minute.

Choosing a grade and a way to pay

The bizhub 360i comes in three grades on our list: renewed, the closest to new; refurbished, the most popular; and used, the lowest outlay. Each is checked, with its page count in writing. Buy it outright, or rent or lease over as long as 60 months, depending on its age. The price takes in delivery, network installation, scanning setup and a walk through for your staff.

Put it on a service agreement and our replacement warranty runs for the full term: a machine that fails is replaced. On selected machines, rental is from $15 a week plus GST, with finance subject to approval.

Checks before you buy secondhand

  • Pages printed so far. The count comes to you in writing. It says more about wear than the year on the badge.
  • Options fitted. A finisher, more drawers or a high capacity tray change the work it can take on, and the figure you pay.
  • Service after the sale. Secondhand only pays off while someone keeps it running. We do not sell a machine we cannot service.
  • Cost per page. Get the mono and colour rates in writing, with what each one covers.

Replacement warranty

Machine fails? It gets replaced. Right to the end of the term.

Put any machine on our service agreement and the replacement warranty comes with it. New or secondhand, and whether you rent, lease, finance or buy outright, the rule is the same: should the machine fail, you get a replacement. The cover runs to the final day of the agreement, not the end of year one.

On a new copier the maker's own warranty is usually 12 months, on the hardware only; consumables sit outside it. Beyond that year, your cover is the service agreement. Your agreement sets out the full terms of the replacement warranty.

Questions

Konica Minolta bizhub 360i: your questions

Can you still buy a new bizhub 360i?

Not new: Konica Minolta moved on to the bizhub 361i. A secondhand one from our list is checked, graded and serviced by us.

How worn is a secondhand bizhub 360i?

That depends on the unit. Its page count comes to you in writing first, because that says more about wear than its age does.

What monthly volume suits the bizhub 360i?

Up to 33,000 pages a month, on Konica Minolta's recommendation. Its rated maximum is 175,000 in a single month.

Should I choose the bizhub 360i or the bizhub 450i?

Same series, different pace: 36 pages a minute against 45. Tell us how many people print and we say which fits.
