The machine

Where does the 2554ci fit? Kyocera launched the 2554ci range in 2021, and it climbs all the way to the 7054ci; this is the model that runs at 25 pages a minute. You copy, print and scan in colour up to A3, using a 10.1 inch touch screen. Because Kyocera Australia has it on its current list, ours carries it both new and secondhand.

It took over from the TASKalfa 2553ci, the same speed in the earlier range. Kyocera designs these machines around long life parts, and that is what holds running costs down across many years. The photograph is from Kyocera.

New or secondhand, check the counter as well as the age.

Which office it fits

A small team that wants A3 colour and has no use for extra speed. Ten or more people printing? Step up to the TASKalfa 3554ci at 35 pages a minute, then the TASKalfa 4054ci at 40.

Grades, payment and setup

New, it comes with the maker's warranty. Secondhand, you choose renewed, refurbished or used; each is checked, and its page count reaches you in writing before you choose. Included in the price: delivery, network installation, scanning setup and a walk through for your staff.

Pay outright, or take a rental or lease on a term of up to 60 months, set by the machine's age and subject to approval. Put it on a service agreement and our replacement warranty runs for the full term: a machine that fails is replaced. Rental is from $15 a week plus GST for selected machines.

Checks before you buy secondhand

  • Pages printed so far. The count comes to you in writing. It says more about wear than the year on the badge.
  • Options fitted. A finisher, more drawers or a high capacity tray change the work it can take on, and the figure you pay.
  • Service after the sale. Secondhand only pays off while someone keeps it running. We do not sell a machine we cannot service.
  • Cost per page. Get the mono and colour rates in writing, with what each one covers.

Replacement warranty

Machine fails? It gets replaced. Right to the end of the term.

Put any machine on our service agreement and the replacement warranty comes with it. New or secondhand, and whether you rent, lease, finance or buy outright, the rule is the same: should the machine fail, you get a replacement. The cover runs to the final day of the agreement, not the end of year one.

On a new copier the maker's own warranty is usually 12 months, on the hardware only; consumables sit outside it. Beyond that year, your cover is the service agreement. Your agreement sets out the full terms of the replacement warranty.

Questions

TASKalfa 2554ci: your questions

Can I still buy a new TASKalfa 2554ci?

You can. Kyocera Australia lists it as current alongside the newer TASKalfa MZ range, and we supply it new. Secondhand ones reach our list often too.

TASKalfa 2553ci vs 2554ci: what changed?

Both run at 25 pages a minute in A3 colour. The 2554ci is the later generation, from 2021, and a later machine tends to cost a little more. Even so, page count and service history weigh as much as the generation. Compare the TASKalfa 2553ci.

Is the TASKalfa 2554ci worth buying?

For a small team, yes. Kyocera's long life parts keep its cost per page low, and it fits A3 colour into a compact body.

Is the TASKalfa 2554ci available on rental?

Yes, new or refurbished, subject to approval, on a term of up to 60 months that depends on the machine's age. Rental is from $15 a week plus GST for selected machines.
